Sunday 21 December
We start our Sunday morning with a visit to the antiquities market. Once again, not what we had expected - more of a "car boot sale" with the odd gem of old furniture or piece which catches your eye, but an incredible amount of junk. The day is glorious - a balmy 11 deg with blue sky, and no biting wind. We wander alongside the river & through the myriad of winding streets. Discover some more Christmas markets and the art gallery. Simon very impressed with all the art he's seen. We head to a second gallery with a fabulous exhibition of 20th century american artists - Whistler & Sargent etc.
It is finally warm enough for us to sit outside & have a coffee watching the winter skating rink set up in the square outside the cathedral. Streets are once again teeming with people all shopping madly (we assume this is worse because of Christmas?)
The decision is made to eat-in tonight so we head to our favourite supermarket & stock up on supplies. Family discussion is held as to what to do for Christmas presents. Unfortunately we have had to break the news to Rose the truth concerning santa. Although she "knew", she really didn't want it to be true & 30 minutes of crying & misery followed. Simon, being the caring big brother had to leave the room as he was trying not to laugh.....
what a lovely time you are having and you bring it all to life so beautifully we went to the manse for morning tea this morning very pleasant having fish and chips tonight weather not very christmassy at the moment i love the rosie tale and am pleased there does not seem too be any ongoing trauma i sent simon's bravo to your phone cos i wasn;t sure that he would have his met kerry up the street this am she's looking forward to having a rest from work the lads are calling here tomorrow am after church will send more later m/l
